“It’s My Achilles Heel” Robert Whittaker Revealed His Vulnerable Spot After UFC 308 Loss

UFC 308 did bring “Jaw-dropping” moments and the co-main event where former middleweight champ Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev went head to head; prior to the bout, many thought that Robert Whittaker would put Khamzat Chimaev to the test, but to everyone’s surprise the Borz made the fight looked like a child’s play by rag-dolling the champion from the first 10 seconds of the battle ultimately making him tap in the very first round. The quickly Whittaker tapped everybody knew that there was something wrong with him, and post-fight, it was assumed that the former champion’s jaw was broken by Khamzat while choking him.

Khamzat Chimaev also expressed grief over the bad incident during the post-fight conference.

So I feel bad for that. I didn’t mean to break somebody’s chin, but it’s my work, to make somebody pain and make me happy, my family. I wasn’t trying to break his jaw in any way. It just happened that I went for a choke and I heard something click. I thought I was taking his neck, but I guess I broke the jaw.”

Chimaev said

Robert Whittaker now revealed that his jaw wasn’t broken at UFC 308; his lower teeth were pushed in by Khamzat’s squeeze, which caused him to tap so quickly.

“I’m alright, it wasn’t the jaw, it was the teeth. The teeth got pushed in. I’ve always had loose teeth, and they got looser. It was the face crank. His forearm went straight on the bottom tooth, I didn’t have a moment to turn the head or anything… It’s my Achilles heel. I’ve had them pushed in before when I fought Dricus [du Plessis], and they’ve never really recovered.

Robert Whittaker said to Red Corner MMA

After his UFC 308 loss, Robert Whittaker is out of the equation of getting a title shot next, whereas Khamzat Chimaev has certainly made him a favorite to get a shot next.
