UFC featherweight champ Ilia Topuria is certainly on a path to becoming the next superstar of the UFC with his undefeated professional record and his latest victory over the BMF champ Max Holloway at UFC 308 made MMA fans think about who could stand toe to toe with the Spaniard. The featherweight champ is not willing to back away from challenges, and prior to his bout against Max Holloway, in an interview with TNT Sports, he expressed his interest in becoming UFC’s first three-division champ.
[I would] probably [be] a three weight world champion. Yeah, that’s my goal. You’re not gonna see me in the welterweight division like this, skinny. You’re gonna see me different. That’s the goal, move up to the lightweight division, get that belt and then move up to the welterweight division.”

After shocking the MMA world by knocking out Max Holloway at UFC 308, fighters of different weight classes called him out for the fight. Interestingly, rising welterweight contender Shavkat Rakhmonov is no exception, as he recently mocked Ilia Topuria, claiming that he could beat him with only one hand.

Shavkat Rakhmonov was scheduled to fight Belal Muhammad for a title fight at UFC 310 December 2024, but the welterweight champ Belal pulled out from the bout due to an injury, leaving the main event vacant though Shavkat offered to fight for an interim title. UFC has yet to declare whether an interim fight will happen. Ilia Topuria, on the other hand, is likely to defend his title against former champ Alexander Volkanovski next. The UFC hasn’t made a fight between these two official, but Volkanovski’s record at 145lbs makes him a worthy opponent.
