Will Magomed Ankalaev Dethrone Alex Pereira From Light Heavy Weight Title At UFC 313?

Alex Pereira during his fight

Reigning UFC Light Heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is going to defend his title at UFC 313 against the number one ranked contender, Magomed Ankalaev. There has been a lot of trash talk coming from Magomed Ankalaev’s side, who is constantly poking the champion on social media, and there haven’t been any such counterattacks from Pereira as of now as the champ believes in settling the business in the cage. MMA pundits have been calling Magomed Ankalev the most formidable opponent for “Poatan” in the light heavyweight, but would the Russian be that good to defeat one of the most lethal strikers in the UFC? or is he going to meet the same fate of his fellow light heavyweight fighters who fought “Poatan” earlier.

What skills Can Magomed Ankalaev Use To Make A Difference In The Fight?

Looking at the UFC record of the Russian fighter, he hasn’t lost a fight since September 2018 and is on an 11-fight win streak. His grappling and wrestling skills always gave him an advantage over his opponents. His primary weapon is his ground game. Though he is good on the feet, he doesn’t have the insane power on the feet like “Poatan,” who is known for his out-of-this-world striking prowess where even an uncomplete strike can shut the lights out. If Magomed Ankalaev manages to control Alex Pereira on the ground, he can get a submission or a victory over the Brazilian.

But in his previous statements, the Russian has repeatedly said that he can out-strike the champion when it comes to standing game. If he can walk the talk on fight day, he will become the legitimate “Boogeyman” of the light heavyweight division, as it won’t be easy for anyone to defeat “Poatan” in a striking game.
