Usman Nurmagomedov, the bellator MMA lightweight champion, has been found positive for the banned substance by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), and now he has been banned from fighting for six months. Usman Nurmagomedov is an impressive fighter with an unbeaten record of 6 in the Bellator before fightingBrent Pimus to defend his lightweight title on October 7, 2023. He won that fight with an unaimable decision to retain his light weight title, but after finding his positive for the banned substance, the fight is now declared a no contest, and he would fight him again for the light weight title.
He won’t be stripped from the belt, as per his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, who also revealed that Usman Nurmagomedov didn’t test positive for any performance-enhancing drug.
Usman was prescribed medication for an illness he had. It’s NOT an anabolic steroid, EPO, HGH, etc. Nothing enhancing,”
Abdelaziz said in a statement to ESPN.
His opponent, Brent Primus, wasn’t happy with the fight being declared a no-contest, but he thanked the California Athletic Commission for being pro-active and alert to catch those who dope and consume banned substances.
I was just informed by Andy Foster [CSAC executive officer] that my last opponent for Bellator 300, Usman Nurmagomedov, failed his drugs test for a banned substance so our fight is now a no-contest, “It sucks but I really want to thank the California Athletic Commission and Bellator for testing us all and catching those cheaters, I really appreciate it.”
