Indian Wrestling Triumph: Sangeeta Overcomes Hungarian Adversary to Clinch Bronze in Prestigious International Competition

In a stirring display of grit and determination, Indian wrestler Sangeeta clinched the bronze medal at a recent international competition, overcoming her Hungarian opponent in a 6-2 victory. The win, determined by decision (VPO1), added yet another medal to Sangeeta’s growing tally and marked an impressive conclusion to her performance in the third-fourth-place match.

Sangeeta, known for her agility and robust offensive techniques, gained an early lead with a skillful takedown move. The Hungarian wrestler did manage to equalize the score at 2-2, but it wasn’t long before Sangeeta regained control, launching a swift counter-offensive that brought her the win.

Interestingly, Sangeeta’s path to the medal wasn’t a straight one. The wife of Olympic bronze medallist Bajrang Punia and sister of Commonwealth Games gold medalist Geeta Phogat, Sangeeta started the tournament with a challenging defeat. American wrestler Jennifer Waters proved to be a formidable opponent, besting Sangeeta in a defeat by fall.

Nonetheless, the setback served as fuel for Sangeeta’s comeback. Taking on another American opponent in the third round, Sangeeta emerged victorious with a decisive 12-2 win over Brenda Olivia Reyna, demonstrating the technical superiority that has earned her a reputation on the international wrestling stage.

Sangeeta’s relentless assault and swift movements put her in the lead 4-2 in the early stages of the match. Maintaining her momentum, she went on to win the match, adding another victory to her wrestling career.
