In the “Maharashtra Derby,” Puneri Paltan started well by taking the lead over U Mumba in the first 10 minutes of the game as U Mumba were down to only three players with 1 point on their side, a 2-point raid of Mumba’s raider Manjeet Singh followed by a super tackle brought them back in the game. Pune’s players were determined enough to lead again in the game as minutes before the first half, U Mumba got their first all-out with the first half ending 22-16.
There was no change in Pune’s approach in the second half as both raiders and defenders got points for their team, though there was a fightback shown by Ajit Chouhan from U Mumba’s side as the raider was bringing points in the raids. Mumba’s defender started contributing as the points gap started shrinking, but Pune didn’t let them come close, and Mohit Goyat did a super raid to increase the gap further. U Mumba’s defenders were no trouble for Pune in the last minutes of the game as they won the match against U Mumba to climb to the top of the points table with 4 wins.
Pune’s next match is against Gujarat Fortune Giants today, and it will be exciting to see whether the Pune army continues its win streak to remain at the top of the standings.
