Fuego Del Sol, an entertainer with All Elite Wrestling and the independent scene, recently shared on his social media pages that he suffered a foot injury this past Sunday that is drastically impacting both his involvement with AEW and his presence on the independent scene. Fans of Del Sol’s have since been expressing their concern for him through comments on his posts, hopeful for a full recovery so that he can once again deliver entertaining matches to their delight. Although this situation is certainly unfortunate for Del Sol, one can imagine that he feels especially supported by all of the words of encouragement from friends, family and fans.
At first, Joe didn’t think much of it. The sudden pain when he landed off-balance as he competed in the match felt more like a strain than anything serious. But shortly after, as he started to move his foot, he knew it was something else entirely. He realized that he had likely just dislocated a bone in his right foot and amazingly enough, by sheer luck or intuition, had managed to pop it back into place on his own again. Yet still, feeling the residual pain from what happened lingered on and X-rays soon confirmed that there was also a small fracture at the bottom of his big toe from the ordeal. Joe was lucky during this match but knows that if it ever happens again; seeking immediate medical attention will be his best option for making sure any injury is assessed properly.
On February 24th, a tense wait is all that stands between Fuego and the answers he’s been looking for. In that moment, his future hangs in the balance: will a CAT scan determine ligament damage or not? These questions have been plaguing Fuego for weeks now, preventing him from playing any games and marring his otherwise unimpeded season. If no damage is found, Fuego can expect to be sidelined for five-to-six weeks, but with the looming possibility of ligament damage comes a much longer recovery period – three months or more. Regardless of this unnerving uncertainty, Fuego remains diligent and determined. Whatever the outcome, he’s confident he’ll get back on the field again soon.
