Vinesh Phogat "Heartbreak" Retirement Announcement From Wrestling

India’s women’s wrestler Vinesh Phogat has announced her retirement from Wrestling after the heartbreak at the Paris Olympics 2024, where she got so close to securing first silver medal or Gold medal of the Olympics 2024 for India to become the first Indian woman wrestler to do so in Olympics but during his weigh-ins, she came out 100-150gms above the weight limit though she cut down as much weight as she could by doing whatever things she could to came down to the weight limit night before her fight but didn’t cut it to the exact weight limit though she and her team appealed to get some more time, but it was denied and Vinesh got disqualified from the Olympics 2024 on Tuesday.

Vinesh Phogat, after the devastating disqualification, was hospitalized as she was physically, and even after suffering so much for the bout, she didn’t get to wrestle. Former Indian athlete and president of the Indian Olympic Association, PT Usha, met her in the hospital and updated the Indian fans about her health by saying that the wrestler is physically sound, but she needs some rest to get back to her rhythm mentally. PT Usha assured me that whatever is in their jurisdiction, they will do it all to get her a medal.

Vinesh Phogat has filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports(CAS) for her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024. Yusneylis Guzman Lopez, whom Phogat beat in the Semi-finals, fought USA’s Hildebrandt for the gold but lost to secure a silver for her Country, Cuba. Now, Vinesh Phogat is banking on CAS to get a joint silver medal.
