Karnataka Women Strike Gold at All India Forest Sports Meet

On Sunday, Karnataka’s women’s kabaddi team had a thrilling edge over Himachal Pradesh, with the tight score of 34-32 earning them the gold medal at the 26th All India Forest Sports Meet. Chhattisgarh won bronze after they overwhelmed Gujarat in an impressive 55-11 victory. The men’s kabaddi action saw Tamil Nadu beat Goa 60-13, while Himachal Pradesh just managed to scrape by against Gujarat with an exciting 45-41 win. Karnataka emerged victorious against Chhattisgarh by a comfortable 46-31 margin and Haryana was given a walkover in their match battles against Maharashtra. It was a jam-packed day of intense competition between various skillful sides from around the country, culminating in some fantastic results for all involved.

The 2021 National shooting championship was recently held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi, and it surely did not disappoint! In the women’s 50-m rifle three position event, Deepthi Jolly from Kerala put forth a tremendous performance to bag the gold with 161 points. She was closely followed by Megha Tiwari from Chhattisgarh who went on to win the silver with 160 points, while Amrutha Sivaram from Kerala clinched the bronze with a total of 155 points. In the women’s 50-m open rifle prone championship it was Megha who proved her mettle yet again, topping her competitors and securing an easy win including 70 points to take home gold. Deepthi and Amrutha were also in contention but had to settle for silver and bronze respectively with each scoring 66 points. All three champions showcased incredible skills and talent in the tournament proving that they have what it takes to make it big on the international stage.
