The Medal Hopes Ended For Young Talented Lakshya Sen After Defeat in Bronze Medal Match in Paris Olympics 2024
The rising hero of the Indian badminton team, Lakshya Sen, failed to secure the Bronze Medal in the Paris Olympics to give India one more medal, which was the scenario for all the Indian athletes as they finished fourth.
Everyone praised Lakshya Sen on his journey. Even the gold medalist Viktor Axelsen, who played with him in the Semi-Final, praised him after the match and said that in the next Olympics, he will be the potential gold medalist.
Lakshya was defeated in the bronze medal match against Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia by 13-21 21-16 21-11. The match went on for 71 minutes, but in the middle of the match, his elbow got injured as some of the blood dropped on the floor, which made him lose momentum.
“I had my chances. Could have done better in the second set. Credit to him; he played very well. I am not able to take it at the moment. In between the points, there was blood on the floor. I was losing some momentum, having a break in my game. Serving again and trying to refocus on the match,”
Lakshya said after the match
After the match, badminton coach Prakash Padukone was not happy with the effort the team put into putting together because he was expecting a medal from PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen.
What Did Prakash Padukone Said About Indian Badminton Players?
“high time the players step up and win”. “All the support and finances needed to perform at the top level were given to the Indian players. It’s not like earlier times when our players lacked facilities and funds. So, it’s high time our players step up and win as expected,”
“I am a little disappointed in our performance that we could not even get a single medal from Badminton. Like I have said before, we were contenders for three medals so at least one would have made me happy. But having said this, this time the Government, Sports Authority of India, and Sports Ministry everybody has done their best and I don’t think anyone could have done anything more than what the Government has done so I think the players also need to take responsibility,”
Prakash Padukone
The fans of India and many sports athletes did say bad about the Indian government and management, but they never accept that it was them who did not pull up their performance in the crucial moments because the Sports government in many sports provides everything they can more and so many countries do who bring golds even not having the proper sports management.
