Digvesh Rathi and Jitesh Sharma during an IPL match

In the final league game of the IPL 2025, Rishabh Pant led LSG was defeated by RCB to reach number 2 in the points table. After a good innings by Rishabh Pant, which helped LSG put 227 runs on the board, it was RCB’s stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma’s innings that stole the limelight. The wicket-keeper batter scored a match-winning 85 runs for his team to win the match by 6 wickets. However, Jitesh Sharma’s innings weren’t the only highlight as in the final ball of the 17th over, LSG’s bowler, Digvesh Rathi, attempted a “Mankad” on Jitesh Sharma, which was not given out by the third umpire, Ulhas Gandhe.

Commentators said that LSG captain Rishabh Pant had withdrawn the appeal, but that wasn’t the reason behind giving Jitesh Sharma’s not out.

What Are The Laws Behind “Mankad”?

“The instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball is defined as the moment the bowler’s arm reaches the highest point of his/her normal bowling action in the delivery swing.”
