England Announces Squad vs West Indies for The Two-Match Test Series: Woakes Returns and Stokes To Lead The Side

Smith to Debut for England New Team

England will play three test matches against the West Indies, but they announced the squad for the two test matches. Wood and Jonny Bairstow have been dropped from the team. On the other hand, Chris Woakes once again asked to join the squad because of his all-rounder skills.

England’s legendary test bowler James Anderson will retire after the first test against the West Indies which will end on July 14, 2024, and on that day we will bid another star in a span of one month as Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja already took retirement from T20I cricket. So does Kane Williamson, who refused to extend his contract for the New Zealand side after a disappointing tournament.

Squad of England Test Team For The Two Test Match Against West Indies

Ben Stokes (captain), James Anderson (first test only), Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Dillon Pennington, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Joe Root, Jamie Smith and Chris Woakes.

Dillon Pennington and Jamie Smith are the players who might have debuted in the match. Pennington plays for Nottinghamshire and Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred. He has taken 181 wickets in 93 innings, which made him one of the top young bowlers for England to replace James Anderson and Stuart Board place, which is hard to replace.

Jamie Luke Smith is the replacement for Jonny Bairstow and also for Jos Buttler who might join the team in the third test. He already debuts for England in the ODI. He has a great average in the first-class format, scoring 3434 runs in 59 matches, and great with the gloves.

It is going to be not easy for the England squad against the high-spirited West Indies side, who are right now playing against the First-Class Counties Select XI.
