“Virender Sehwag, Viv Richards used to do it.” Indian Legend Compares Abhishek Sharma To Cricket Maestros

India’s left-handed batting sensation, Abhishek Sharma, lit up Wankhede Stadium in the series 5th and final T20I match against England by hitting a sensational 135 off just 54 balls. India eventually won the game by 150 runs and clinched the series by 4-1. Abhishek Sharma was the highlight of the match and became the highest individual scorer from India in the T20I, surpassing his Punjab mate and right-handed batter Shubman Gill’s record of 126 runs.

Former cricketers, commentators, and cricket analysts all praised Abhishek Sharma for his innings. A legend from his own state of Punjab, Harbhajan Singh, compared him to cricket greats Virender Sehwag and Sir Vivian Richards, as according to the former spinner, he can bring the same aggressive batting style to test cricket.

Maybe we will also see him (Abhishek Sharma) starring in the Test team as well. He can play, banda todta hai usme bhi (he smashes it in that format as well). He is captain of Punjab (in the Ranji Trophy),”

Harbhajan Singh said

Harbhajan Singh believes that Abhishek Sharma will replicate the aggressive game of Travis Head from the Indian team in test cricket and bring the style of cricket that Virender Sehwag used to play in his prime. Abhishek Sharma’s first-class records are not so appreciative, as the batter has an average of 30 in 24 games so far, but it will be a matter of time before he can change the stats in his favor.

On his day, he just takes the game away. Travis Head does it, Virender Sehwag used to do it, Viv Richards used to do it. These kinds of players are the ones who take the game forward. Soon, his chance will come in Test cricket. You always need a player of the Sehwag mould in Test cricket who comes, smashes, and takes the game away. That can be Abhishek Sharma,”

He added
