India vs Sri Lanka: In a rain-interrupted match, India clinched victory in the 2nd T20I match against Sri Lanka to lead the three-match series by 2-0.
India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis started the Sri Lankan innings with confidence by hitting two boundaries in the first over, but in the fourth over, Arshdeep Singh dismissed Kusal Mendis to pick up the first wicket for India. Kusal Pereira and Pathum Nissanka played cautiously after that and scored quick runs for their team. Nisssanka got out after scoring 32 runs, but Kusal Pereira continued to hit runs and scored his fifty. It was Ravi Bishnoi who stopped the middle-order batters and took wickets to maintain the pressure on the opposition. In 20 overs, the home team scored 161 runs, but rain interrupted the second innings, and after the DLS method, the target was brought down to 78 runs in 8 overs for India.
India started their chase with Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sri Lanka’s bowler Maheesh Theekshana picked up Sanju Samson’s wicket early in the chase. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal handled the conditions well, and Suryakumar Yadav batted like always do. Both batters attacked Sri Lanka’s bowlers and didn’t let the required run rate go up. With Hardik Pandya’s strong cameo of 22 runs, India chased the target with 9 balls remaining.

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I: Captains’ Corner
Disappointed with our batting at the death and our middle and lower-middle order, including me. We must improve our batting at the death. This pitch, when the ball gets older, it becomes really hard to bat. But that’s not the reason. As a professional cricketer, we have to do well, and find a way. The way we approach our last five overs, we have to do something. I think we were behind 15-18 runs. Unfortunately weather also played something. It’s easy in an eight-over game with a wet outfield (smiles).

We spoke about this before this tournament, what brand of cricket we want to play. Even though it was a shorter target, this is the template we want going ahead. With the weather around, I thought anything below 160 or 150 chasing would’ve been nice. We’ve seen games here have been tricky. Rain helped us. The way the boys batted…wonderful. We’ll sit and decide what we’ll do going forward [about next game’s playing XI]. Little bit of luck has to go around, and just blessed with.
