MI vs RCB: Mumbai Indians are back to winning ways after three consecutive losses. They have won their previous two matches at their home ground. In the 25th IPL match, they defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets to register their second victory in the IPL 2024. MI’s batters ran havoc at Wankhede to reach the target of 197 in just 15.3 overs, whereas RCB lost their fourth consecutive match in the IPL 2024.
Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya, after winning the toss, no surprise, chose to bowl first, and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli started the innings for the team. Still, the latter could only score three runs as Jasprit Bumrah found a thick edge of his bat, which was taken safely by Ishan Kishan behind the wickets. The new addition to the Playing XI, Will Jacks, played some shots but couldn’t make more than eight runs. RCB was struggling, and that’s when Rajat Patidar played a fearless innings where the right-handed batter scored his first fifty of the IPL 2024; RCB was back on track, but consecutive wickets of Patidar and Maxwell pushed them back again. Meanwhile, Faf scored his fifty; he got the support of Dinesh Karthik, who scored fifty off 22 balls to take his team to a total of 196.
Chasing the target of 197, Mumbai Indians openers Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma didn’t disappoint their team and attacked the bowlers. Where the former was the aggressor and scored his fifty inside powerplay, the duo had a 100+ runs partnership for the first wicket. Even after getting the wicket of Ishan Kishan, the trouble didn’t get over for RCB as Suryakumar Yadav took over the responsibility from that moment and showed the crowd that he was back to business. The Right-handed batter scored fifty in just 17 balls and ensured a victory for his team before getting dismissed. Mumbai Indians finished the match with 15.3 overs and 199/3.

“Always good to win. The way we have won – it’s quite impressive. Impact player has given the opportunity to use an extra bowler if we require. It gives me a cushion as well. The way Ro and Kishan batted, giving the platform, it was important for us to finish it early. “We didn’t speak about it. That’s the beauty of this team, players know what to do. Blessed to have Bumrah in my side. He does it over and over again. He practices a lot. The amount of experience and confidence he has is tremendous.“

“It’s a tough pill to swallow – combination of two things, very wet (the conditions with dew), I need to somehow win some tosses, secondly, they played really well, put the pressure on us and we made a lot of mistakes (especially during the powerplay). Every time you see him with the ball in his hand (on Jasprit Bumrah), you think you’ll have to put him under pressure. But he has so many skills, bowls well under pressure, he bowls with the same action and has a lot of variations. I think he has become even better under the guidance of Lasith Malinga.”
