Skipper Pant got going to score 63 runs for his team before getting out. At the end of 20 overs, LSG scored 166 runs.
Chasing 166 runs, CSK’s new opening pair of Rachin Ravindra and debutant Shaik Rasheed gave the start needed to their team. Both batters partnered to take the score to 52 runs in 4.4 overs. Avesh Khan broke the partnership by taking the wicket of Rasheed. Rachin Ravindra got out after scoring 37 runs. Soon, Rahul Tripathi got out as CSK were 3 down for 81 runs. LSG’s bowlers put pressure to get two more wickets, and CSK still required 56 runs to win the match. Then MS Dhoni came to the crease and played the innings he is known for. He got the support of Shivam Dube from the other end, and both finished the game three balls early, winning git by 5 wickets.

We feel we were 10-15 runs short, we kept losing wickets, whenever momentum was there we kept losing wickets and we couldn’t get a partnership. the wicket was nice to bat on, stopping a bit, we could have got ten runs more. Definitely feeling better about my batting with every game … getting into rhythm. There was lot of time I thought about bowling Bishnoi but I discussed with other players and thought let’s take it deeper …”

“Good to win a game, unfortunately the games haven’t gone our way, it gives a lot of confidence to the team. It was a tough game, glad to be on the winning side and hopefully it gives us momentum. We were struggling in the first six overs in previous games when bowling but then come back in the middle overs … we were not getting the kind of the start also as a batting unit …maybe it was because of the Chennai wicket … maybe we will do better on better wickets, give the batters more confidence. We need more bowlers in the first six, we were puting too much pressure on Ash to bowl two overs in the first six, so we mad changes to have more bowlers in the first six, this looks like a better attack … we have done well as a bowling unit, but we can do better as a batting unit. Rasheed batting really well today, he has been with us for few years, we have seen improvement and this year he has been batting really well in the nets, we needed a change in the batting order, he batted really well, but it’s just the start, he has ability to dominate with authentic shots … not like some other batters floating around.
