Mohammad Nabi Becomes No.1 ODI All-Rounder In ICC Rankings Replaces Shakib-Al-Hasan

Mohammad Nabi dethrones Shakib-Al-Hasan to become the number one ODI all-rounder.

Afghanistan’s former captain Mohammad Nabi has become the number one ranked all-rounder in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings, replacing Bangladesh’s Shakib-Al-Hasan, who has been in the number one position for more than five years. Mohammad Nabi, after his century against Sri Lanka in the first ODI of three match series, has gone up in the ICC ODI Bowler’s rankings as the all-rounder took one wicket in the match, plus now in the latest rankings, he ended the five-year-long streak of Shakib-Al-Hasan, who has been on the top for about 1,739 days (since May 7, 2019).

Mohammad Nabi, with his number one spot, has also created a new record. Afghanistan’s all-rounder became the oldest player to claim the top spot in the ICC all-rounder’s rankings. Mohammad Nabi is currently 39 years and one month old; the record for the same was held by former Sri Lanka’s opening batter Tillkaratne Dilshan back in 2015, when he was 38 years old. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is also in the top 10 ICC ODI all-rounder’s rankings; he is currently ranked number four in the list of all-rounders’ rankings.

Sri Lanka’s players Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka have climbed up in the ODI batter’s rankings, with the former climbing ten spots to be at the rank of 18th, and the latter has now taken the 15th rank in the batter’s rankings. Azmatullah Omarzai, with his unbeaten 149 in the first ODI against Sri Lanka, went up in the rankings to 57th. He and Nabi fought hard to chase the target of 382 runs, but they couldn’t end the match as winners. The final match of the series is going on at Pallekele Stadium, Sri Lanka, with Afghanistan giving the chasing total to the host this time.
