“If he is fit.” Ricky Ponting Provides A Big Update On Rishabh Pant before IPL 2024.

Ricky Ponting will figure out some role for Rishabh Pant if the latter is not perfectly fit to play as wicketkeeper.

Delhi Capitals’ coach Ricky Ponting has recently given updates on wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who is likely to captain the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024. Rishabh Pant is expected to return to professional cricket after a long break of 15 months. The left-handed batter suffered a tragic car accident in December 2022 while he was going back to his hometown. Recovering from the injuries and getting back on the feet to play cricket again were looking grim for the batter, but Rishabh Pant overcame the obstacles in his way, started training again, and is now ready and fit to make his comeback in cricket with IPL 2024 ahead.

Ricky Ponting, providing the fitness update about Pant, said that if the batter is entirely fit, then the fans can see him leading the team in the IPL 2024, but if the franchise has doubts about his fitness, then it has to figure out some other role for the player in the tournament.

“It’s a big decision we’ll have to make because if he is fit, you’d think he’d step straight back into that captaincy role. If he’s not entirely fit and we have to use him in a slightly different role, then we’ve got some decisions to make there,”

Ricky Ponting on Rishabh Pant’s Recovery

The good news is that Rishabh Pant has started practicing and playing cricket, and for Ricky Ponting, batting hasn’t been a problem so far for Rishabh Pant, revealing the amount of hard work Southpaw put in to reach where he is now. He said this:

I know he’s worked incredibly hard on his body and his fitness to get back to the level that he’s at now. He’s kept in one of those games, he’s fielded in these games and the batting hasn’t seemingly been an issue for him so far.

The updates are encouraging for the DC fans, and as per the IPL 2024 schedule, the Delhi Capitals are scheduled to face the Punjab Kings on March 23.
