Sanjay Manjrekar on KL Rahul's selection in Asia Cup squad

The BCCI recently announced India’s Asia Cup squad, and the rationale behind the selection of some players is constantly being questioned by cricket experts and fans on social media. One of them is KL Rahul, who is supposed to be opening the Indian innings in the Asia Cup 2023, but so far there has been no update from KL Rahul’s side on his injury, which he sustained during the IPL while fielding. It was a calf injury, due to which he had to skip playing for the rest of the IPL season. The Indian squad has a backup, Sanju Samson, who is included in case KL Rahul doesn’t play.

India will be kickstarting their journey in the Asia Cup with arch rivals Pakistan as the two teams will face each other on September 2nd, and there are still questions on KL Rahul’s fitness and form as the batter flopped against Pakistan when they encountered him last year during the ICC T20 World Cup, and since then he has been out of form, but Indian selectors have shown confidence in him and are sure that it is just a niggle and he can play in the ODI matches as this time the Asia Cup is going to be conducted in ODI format.

Ex-India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said these things about Indian players batting line-up and what type of flexibility they should maintain during the match.
