Shreyas Iyer Is Going To Miss The Initial IPL Matches? Reports
India’s batter Shreyas Iyer’s back injury has resurfaced during the Ranji Trophy final match, where Mumbai is taking on Vidarbha for the Ranji title. Shreyas Iyer batted brilliantly for his team, Mumbai, during the third inning of the match, where the right-handed batter scored 95 runs off 111 deliveries. During his innings, he was assisted by the medical staff twice as the batter faced back spasms while playing. Mumbai on the fifth day came out to defend the total of 538 runs without Shreyas Iyer, and that worries the fans and KKR camp both as the right-handed batter is going to captain KKR this season, but so far the chances of him playing initial matches are looking grim.
It’s not looking good. It’s the same back injury which has got aggravated. It’s unlikely that he will take the field on Day 5 of the Ranji Trophy final. He is in danger of missing the initial matches of the IPL. During the recently-held Test series against England at home, he had told the Indian team management about this injury troubling him again.”
Times of India reports
Shreyas Iyer’s last few weeks haven’t gone his way, as the batter and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan were ripped off of the BCCI’s central contract for skipping the Ranji matches. Shreyas Iyer told higher authorities that he was facing back issues while playing, but National Cricket Academy staff said the opposite of what Iyer claimed, as according to them, the batter is not suffering from any fresh injuries, and now in the finals, his injury gave the scare to KKR.
Kolkata Knight Riders Get The Setback Ahead of IPL 2024
Shreyas Iyer didn’t play a single match in the IPL 2023 for KKR due to a back injury, and recurring of that just when their first IPL 2024 match is nine days away is a trouble for the KKR camp. KKR finished seventh on the points table in IPL 2023, and the recent injury update is a worrying factor for the franchise.
