IND(W) vs PAK(W): India bounced back from the first match defeat against New Zealand to win the next against Pakistan by 6 wickets.
Pakistan’s skipper, Fatima Sana, won the toss and elected to bat first. Muneeba Ali and Gull Feroza started the innings for Pakistan. Renuka Singh got Gull Feroza’s wicket in the first over of the match. From there, Muneeba Ali tried scoring runs from her end, but from the other, Pakistan kept losing wickets. Soon, Muneeba also got out as Pakistan lost half of its side in just 52 runs. Nida Dar scored 28 runs for her team. Pakistan managed to post 105 runs on the board at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 106 runs, India’s start wasn’t great as the opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma was restricted by Pakistan’s bowlers, and Smriti Mandhana threw her wicket in the fifth over of the powerplay on the score of 7. Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues built the partnership required. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur came to the crease after Shafali Verma’s dismissal and did her job before getting retired hurt on the score of 29 runs. India won the match by 6 wickets with 7 balls to spare.

(On Harman’s injury) Too soon to say anything, the medics are looking at it. Hopefully she is alright. As a bowling unit, we were very disciplined and in the field we were good too. We could have done with a better start with the bat, but we will take this. (On net run-rate) We were thinking about it but me and Shafali weren’t able to time it well. So we didn’t want to get to a place where we were chasing the game, but NRR is surely in our heads. This game will give us some momentum and hopefully we can keep going in this tournament.
Smriti Mandhana(On Harmanpreet’s behalf) said post-match
Weren’t up to the mark with batting. We were at least 10-15 runs short. Hopefully, next match we can do well. I enjoyed playing against the Indians, enjoyed my time here.
