Oman after winning the toss, Oman decided to bat first, and they got a decent start with opener Pratik Athavale looking good with the bat, but in the third over, Naseem Khushi got out on the score of 10. Skipper Aqib Ilyas hit some good shots before getting dismissed on 16. Ayaan Khan scored 41 runs, and Athavale scored his fifty as Oman posted 150 runs on the board at the end of 20 overs.
Scotland, chasing a total of 151 runs, started well. Despite losing the opener early, Michael Jones, George Munsey, and Brandon McMullen didn’t let the chase weaken and started smashing the Oman Bowlers all over the park. McMullen was the aggressor in the chase, and some missed chances from the Oman fielders let him loose even more shots as the right-handed batter scored his fifty. Scotland won the match in 13.1 overs by 7 wickets.

“Really pleased, important to get the win in a tough game. [Oman fast start] Important on this wicket to work out how to bowl, thought we brought it back well towards the back end. We didn’t have a score in mind. It was more about working out the lengths to bowl. One side was going to be hard to defend, but thought we did that really well. Really happy with the score we had to chase. It was important to get a good start, the way the guys played at the top was excellent. Partnership between Munsey and McMullen was brilliant, great to see Brandon get a score today. [NRR] Wanted to get into a position to win the game, then when we got there we thought we’d target the short side. We’ll enjoy this moment.”

“We started well in the powerplay, 175 could have been a good score, but we had too many dot balls on a flat track. In the batting we have to improve. 150 was par but we dropped too many chances. Catches, if you take them, puts pressure on the other team. This is cricket, sometimes you are at the top, sometimes you are down. [What next?] Stay positive, everyone will be upset, next game we never know. We will hope to compete against England.”
