Travis Head is doubtful to play in the match SRH vs LSG after testing Positive for COVID-19

Travis Head tested positive for Covid-19

As the Indian Premier League nears its end phase, Sunrisers Hyderabad star player Tavis Head tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Lucknow Super Giants fixture.

It is surprising to hear that COVID-19 is still going on. Still, most management and players don’t take it seriously, as every player has already been vaccinated, which makes the virus’s effect pretty low. Still, it’s bad news for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were already eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoffs and wanted to finish the season on a high note.

What did SRH Management say about the Head?

According to SRH head coach Daniel Vettori, Travis Head tested positive for COVID-19 just before he was set to join the team. Because of the test result, he was not allowed to travel with the squad to Kanpur, where SRH will face LSG.

“He tested positive for COVID before he was meant to join us. That’s why he wasn’t able to travel with the group,” said Vettori.

Although Head has now tested negative and is feeling better, Vettori said the team is not sure if he will be ready to play in the match on Wednesday, May 22. It will depend on his health and match fitness.

Who will replace the Head in the SRH Team?

Wiaan Mulder is the first optional replacement for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team and can play in the fourth or fifth down. He will also bowl some overs for the team. The SRH team can make Ishan Kishan open the innings because he is only effective when most fielders are in the 30-yard circle.

If Sunrisers want, they can give some game time to some of the batters who did not feature in the IPL 2025, like Atharva Taide, who is known for his power hitting and played for Punjab Kings in the previous season of IPL, where he did not get much success.
