Former West Indies Player Marlon Samuels Banned From Cricket For 6 Years

Marlon Samuels has been found guilty of breaching the anti-corruption codes of the ECB and is now banned from playing cricket.

Former West Indies batter Marlon Samuels has been banned from all the formats of cricket for six years because he breached the anti-corruption code of the Emirates Cricket Board. Marlon Samuels was charged by the ICC back in 2021 on a total of four offences, and the independent tribunal found him guilty of the charges this year, in August. Though he has been retired from cricket, he was found guilty of breaching anti-corruption codes when he was an active player.

“Samuels played international cricket for close to two decades, during which he participated in numerous anti-corruption sessions and knew exactly what his obligations were under the Anti-Corruption Codes. Though he is retired now, Mr Samuels was a participant when the offences were committed. The ban of six years will act as a strong deterrent to any participant who intends to break the rules.”

Alex Marshall, ICC General Manager – HR and Integrity Unit

Marlon Samuels participated in the Abu Dhabi T10 in 2019, where he represented the Karnataka Tuskers. Though he didn’t play, he was found guilty under these four rules.
