Franz Beckenbauer passed away at the age of 78
Franz Beckenbauer is one of only three people to win the World Cup as a player and a coach. He has been considered as one of the greatest central defenders of all time, and he was known as (The Emperor).
Beckenbauer was born post-World War II in Munich and started his football journey with SC Munich 06 in 1954. He made his debut with Bayern in a Bundesliga promotion playoff match against FC St. Pauli on June 6, 1964, and played till 1977, appearing in 427 matches and scoring 60 goals. He then accepted a high-playing contract from the North American Soccer League (NASL) and played alongside the Brazillian legend Pele in his debut season.
Beckenbauer then went to Hamburger SV in 1980 to play for two seasons in which he only played 28 matches, and then went back to New York Cosmos, where he retired by 1983. He won the FIFA World Cup with West Germany in 1974 and, in 1990, won the title once again as a manager of West Germany.
The German legend Franz Beckenbauer also won the Ballon d’Or in 1972 and 1976 for his amazing leadership and defensive work, which is surprising because it is very rare when a defender is given the Ballon d’Or award because most people and even the fans feel that Striker and midfielders are the one who has the advantage to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or.
Beckenbauer was an amazing leader on the pitch and a great monster tackler who has a name for himself in the defensive line. The striker found it really hard to dribble past him, which was said by many legends like Pele and Maradona, who faced him in his prime but were not able to dribble past him.
The Family of Franz did not mention the cause of death and not even the address of the house he died in, but they said it was peaceful and he died in his own house, which is a good sign in the world.
