Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, played host to the Khelo India Women’s Hockey League (U-21 – Phase 2) on March 29, 2023. The opening day saw HAR Hockey Academy and SAI BAL Team clinch victories in their respective matches. The former team took on Salute Hockey Academy in the first game of the day and emerged victorious with an astounding 17-0 scoreline. With Bhateri, Shashi Khasha, and Saavi being influential in front of the goal, the Har Hockey Academy put on a brilliant display of skill and teamwork. The event proved to be a perfect platform for young talent to showcase their abilities.
The final match of the day was a thrilling display of skill and strategy as the SAI BAL Team squared off against the HIM Hockey Academy. The tension was palpable as the two teams battled for supremacy on the field. However, it was Priyanka Dogra who finally broke the deadlock at the 48th minute with a stunning penalty corner goal. With the momentum firmly in their favor, the SAI BAL Team kept up the pressure to close out the game. And in the dying moments of the match, Himanshi Gawande sealed the deal with an impressive goal, much to the delight of their fans. It was a spectacular performance by the SAI BAL Team, leaving no doubt that they were the better side on the day.
