Demetrious Johnson Announces Retirement From MMA At Age 38

Demetrious Johnson is done with the MMA and announced his retirement at 38.

Quoted as the “GOAT” of MMA, former UFC Flyweight champion and former ONE Championship Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson officially announced his retirement from the world of Mixed Martial Arts at the ONE 168 event in Denver, Colorado. The legend gave many memorable moments to MMA fans around the world. With his great fight IQ, he dominated the division in two different MMA promotions. After cutting his ways from the UFC when he got traded for Ben Askren, he went on to lift the gold at Asia’s biggest MMA organization, ONE Championship, and registered just one loss there, avenging his defeat against opponent Adriano Moraes in the next fight.

He put down his ONE flyweight belt and gave an emotional speech while announcing his retirement from MMA.

“Like I said last time when I came to Denver, Colorado, I told you guys it was potentially my last fight, and I was not lying. I am done. I am done competing in mixed martial arts, and I want to thank you guys so much for giving me the opportunit. “They wanted me to leave the belt in here, I ain’t doing that sh*t. I came into this sport as a champ, I’m leaving my black ass as a champ too,”

After the “Mighty Mouse” announcement, ONE CEO Chatri Sityadtong announced that Mighty Mouse is the first inductee in the ONE Championship Hall of Fame. Even after announcing his retirement from MMA, it is hard to keep the GOAT out of combat sports, as he revealed that he would continue to compete in Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. Fans know that in recent months, DJ has been competing in various Jiu-Jitsu tournaments, defeating bigger opponents.
