Arman Tsarukyan OUT, Renato Moicano Steps In To Fight Islam Makhachev For The Lightweight Title At UFC 311

The latest update from the UFC is shocking and disappointing at the same time as the main event fighter and lightweight title challenger Arman Tsarukyan is officially out of the fight. The reason behind the pull-out is a back injury that he suffered during the weight cut. Brazilian fighter Renato Moicano stepped in to save the main event and accepted the fight on 24-hour short notice. Moicano was earlier scheduled to fight Beneil Dariush on the main card, but he had successfully cut his weight to 155 lbs and accepted UFC’s offer to fight for the title at UFC 311.

Arman Tsarukyan was in excellent shape the whole fight weekend, and fans were excited to see him in the cage for his first shot at the gold, but it looked like it wasn’t in his destiny to face the champ. The challenger was on a four-fight win streak and was called the toughest fight for Islam Makhachev due to the performance he delivered in the first encounter, where the Armenian fighter made Islam Makhachev go for a full three rounds. Though he lost the bout, he was appreciated by the fans.

Renato” Cannot afford to lose” Moicano is also on a four-fight win streak and is one of the fan favorites in the lightweight roster. The MMA community appreciated him for saving the main event, but fans aren’t so good when it comes to Arman Tsarukyan. They mocked him by mentioning that his “Secret Technique” worked. On the other hand, former professional MMA fighter and now coach Khabib Nurmagomedov defended Arman by wishing him good luck and calling these things normal in MMA sports.

“Honestly, I found out yesterday at 1 a.m., before I went to sleep,” “Honestly it can happen with anybody. In March 2017, it happened with me too. Then after that I went to the hospital, had surgery, came back and I told the UFC ‘It was my mistake, give me another guy, I’m going to beat this guy and deserve my title shot’.

“It was the same with me. I just want to wish him all the best. He’s young, tough, he can come back. He’ll have to survive this situation and come back.”

Nurmagomedov said.
