Kazakhstan’s MMA fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov, who took UFC’s welterweight division with storm, has been a mystery to everyone in his division. His approach during a fight hasn’t been figured out by the fighters in his division, yet with such calm and serene looks, he absolutely mauled his opponents on the feet, and hardly any fighter wants to fight him on the ground. He is a complete package of both offense and defense, and it was evident from his debut fight in the UFC back in 2020 that he would be a problem for other fighters in his division. In his debut fight, he defeated Alex Oliveira by guillotine choke and announced his arrival.
Since then, Shavkat Rakhmonov has never been dominated by anyone in his division who can forget his spinning kick knockout over Carlston Harris, and at UFC 296, he submitted Stephen Thomson, who had never tapped to anyone in the UFC, but Shavkat did the unthinkable when he got the back of the woderboy in the second round of the fight. This was the first time in Wonderboy’s 25 fights in the UFC that he tapped. With the win over Stephen Thompson, he is now 6-0 in the UFC and has an undefeated record of 18-0 in his professional career.
Though his win over Stephen Thompson makes him a worthy contender to get the next title shot, Belal Muhammad, who is one rank above Shavkat Rakhmonov, is eager to fight Leon Edwards, as in their last face-off they couldn’t settle things, and now it’s been a hot topic about who Leon Edwards would get next. UFC CEO Dana White hasn’t confirmed yet who will get the next title shot, and it remains to be seen whether Belal will finish the business or Shavkat Rakhmonov will become the undefeated champion in the UFC.
