Lightweight champ and reigning pound-for-pound fighter Islam Makhachev has called out Dricus du Plessis for a fight at 185lbs as, according to the lightweight champ, he has the necessary skills to beat the middleweight champ. In a recent interview with Ushatayka TV, Islam revealed that his natural weight of 185lbs makes him a competitive fighter in the middleweight division, and if UFC decides to put him against the reigning champ, he will fight at middleweight.
“I would 100 percent agree to fight at middleweight. I’m not saying that I have a better chance, that I can 100 percent finish Du Plessis, but watching his fights, watching his style, I think I have the keys to victory.”
