India vs England: England defeated India in the 3rd T20I of the 5 match series to make it 2-1.
India won the toss and decided to bowl first, and it didn’t take much time for India’s bowlers to get the first wicket. Phil Salt was dismissed by Hardik Pandya in the second over to get the first breakthrough for his team. Ben Duckett sidelined the pressure of losing the first wicket and batted in his own way; he got the support of Jos Buttler as both batters started dealing in boundaries. They took the score to 83 runs, but in the 9th over, while trying to hit a reverse sweep, Jos Buttler got caught behind the stumps. Ben Duckett went on to score his fifty, but after scoring 51 runs, his innings ended. Varun Chakravarthy trapped 5 England batters in his spell to restrict England to the score of 171 at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing 172 runs, India’s start wasn’t good as Sanju Samson got out early in the chase. Abhishek Sharma continued playing his game and hit some boundaries, but he couldn’t go beyond 24 runs, and a brilliant catch by Jofra Archer sent him back to the pavilion. The last match winner, Tilak Varma, started well with the skipper Suryakumar Yadav, but this time, Adil Rashid trapped him in the googly as the left-handed batter got out for 18. Hardik Pandya held his end and kept running the scoreboard but didn’t get enough support from the other end as wickets kept falling. After scoring 40 runs for his team, he was dismissed. India fell short of 26 and lost the match.

The guys bowled really well, nice to show off their skills. Adil – he’s the most important player in our team, so many variations, so many different styles of bowling, fortunate to have him in our team. Jofra – don’t need to talk much about him – he’s a super star, incredibly consistent, if he goes for 60 you know he’ll come back well. Ben Duckett is a difficult guy to stop, that’s why we felt he can do a job for us at the top. He played beautifully on what was a sticky pitch. 170 was a very good score, those wickets were crucial in the power play. 127-8 doesn’t bother me, if they say you can be disappointed with the way you play and score 170, I’ll take that.

I felt there’ll be a little bit of dew. With Hardik-Axar batting and us needing 55 off 24, still felt we had the game in our hand. Credit to Adil Rashid, wanted to rotate strike, he didn’t let us, that’s why he hs a world class bowlers. We always learn from a T20 game, conceding 170 from 127 for 8 was too much. Batting also, we have a few things to learn. Good to see Shami bowl like that. Varun’s one guy who has been working very hard, has good discipline that’s why he’s got the results.
