DC vs RR: Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav while taking DRS

DC vs RR: In the 56th match of the IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals to keep their play-offs hopes alive. Delhi Capitals held their nerve against Sanju Samson and Co. to gain two more valuable points in the league. Now, DC is just ahead of LSG in terms of NRR, and their next games will be crucial for them.

After winning the toss, RR’s skipper Sanju Samson decided to bowl first, and DC’s openers were on the crease to put on a show; Jake Fraser McGurk went on like he always does, and Abishek Porel decided to join hands with the McGurk both were running a wild show at Arun Jaitley Stadium where the latter hit a fifty in just 19 balls. But his innings came to an end just after scoring his fifty. Abishek Porel continued hitting from one end and scored his fifty. Rishabh Pant and other batters couldn’t find the rhythm and got out early. The South African Tristan Stubbs hit some great shots to take the team’s score to 221/ 8 at the end of 20 overs.

Chasing the tremendous total, RR’s start was poor as they lost their opener in the first over. Skipper Sanju Samson didn’t let the wicket break RR’s chase hopes and started smashing the bowlers all over the park. Jos Buttler was dismissed at the end of the powerplay, and Sanju, now joined by Riyan Parag, both batters started doing the partnership, but it was Rasikh Salam who sent Parag to the dugout. Sanju Samson kept hitting from one end, but in the 16th over of the match, Shai Hope’s amazing catch dismissed Sanju Samson. Shubham Dubey gave some fight, but RR could only reach 201 at the end of 20 overs and lost the match by 20 runs.

IPL 2024 56th Match DC vs RR: Captains’ Corner

“The way our bowlers executed at the back end was the main positive and it was really good to see. We will try to learn from every game. Even when we lose or win, we will keep our head down and keep moving forward. As always Kuldeep delivered which was great to see. It was close to par and at the same time we were thinking that if we can restrict them to 200 that would be fair and that was the thought process.”

Rishabh Pant said post-match

“I think we had it in our hands, it was like 11-12 runs per over, it was achievable, but these things happen in IPL. Yes, we are doing both the things fine, we will like to stick to what the conditions demand, 220 was 10 runs extra to chase, if we had conceded a couple of less boundaries, we would have made it through. “The DC opener (Fraser McGurk) came out and did what he has done through the tournament, we still came back well. We have lost three games but all those games have been really tight, we have been playing remarkably well, we have to do some fine-tuning and make a comeback, we need to keep the momentum going.
