India vs Bangladesh 2nd T20I: India won the 2nd T20I of the three-match series by 86 runs to achieve an unassailable lead of 2-0.

Bangladesh skipper won the toss and opted to bowl first. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma opened for India. They had an explosive start as the two dealt in boundaries from the first over, but the party came to an end in the second over when Samson got out after scoring 10 runs. Abhishek Sharma got out the next over and brought Nitish Kumar Reddy on the crease. The right-handed batter was playing his second T20I match and built a solid partnership with Rinku Singh for the third wicket after the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav. Reddy and Rinku’s partnership lighted up the stadium as in the second T20I, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored his maiden T20I fifty. Reddy got out after scoring 74 runs, Rinku scored his fifty, and Pandya chip-in with 32 runs, while India finished 221/9 at the end of 20 overs.

Chasing a mammoth target of 222 runs, Bangladesh was off to a good start in the first over as Parvez Hossain Emon hit three boundaries in the first, but Arshdeep Singh got his revenge in his second over as he bowled out the left-handed batter on the score of 16. Spinners took charge after that, and it seemed whoever was getting the ball was taking the wicket. Nitish Kumar Reddy picked two in his spell as Indian bowlers dominated Bangladesh’s batters. Mahmudullah was the lone fighter from the Bangladesh side, scoring 41 runs for his team. At the end of 20 overs, Bangladesh was 135/9, losing the match by 86 runs.

I wanted that situation (41 for 3) and the middle order to bat in it to see how they go. The message has been loud and clear – do what you do in the nets, and franchises. I wanted to see what different bowlers can do especially in games where we’re defending 170-175. So, used many bowlers without Hardik. It was Nitish’s day, so wanted to give him a chance.

Suryakumar Yadav(India captain) said post-match

We made the same mistakes, not a good thing as a team. (Toss) Bowling was a good decision, first 6-7 overs we bowled well but couldn’t execute our plans later. We needed 1-2 wickets after the early ones but couldn’t get them. As batters, we need to take responsibility and stay in the crease for longer.

Najmul Hussain Shanto(Bangladesh Captain) said post-match
