PBKS vs CSK: In the 53rd match of the IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings defeated Punjab Kings by 28 runs to register their sixth victory in this year’s league. CSK avenged their last encounter loss when PBKS defeated the five-time champions at MA Chidambaram Stadium. PBKS, with its latest defeat, slipped to eighth position in the points table, and now their chances to qualify for the playoffs are not so optimistic.

After winning the toss, PBKS’ skipper Sam Curran chose to bowl first at Dharamshala. The PBKS bowlers at their home ground started well and picked up Rahane’s wicket early in the powerplay. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell provided stability to the team and scored some runs, but the skipper got dismissed with a score of 32, and then Shivam Dube followed him, getting out on a duck this time as well. Only all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored 40+ runs, taking the team’s total to 167/9 in the 20 Overs.

Chasing a total of 168, Punjab King’s start wasn’t good as Jonny Bairstow got out early in the powerplay, and Rilee Rossouw followed him. Tushar Deshpande cleaned both overseas batters in his first over of the match. Opener Prabhsimran Singh showed some resistance and scored 30 runs. Shashank Singh was another batter who was looking good, but in the middle overs, CSK made the comeback with its spinners and sent both batters to the dugout. Batters Afterwards, didn’t do much in the chase, and PBKS scored 139 runs at the end of 20 overs. CSK won the match by 28 runs.

Everyone believed the wicket was slow. Even low bounce. Just that the start we got, we were thinking of pushing till 180-200. After losing wickets, thought 160-170 was a good score. Don’t know what he’s doing, but even in preseason he was clicking 150kph (on Simarjeet). He didn’t get too much chances, but it’s never too late. Were thinking of going with impact batter, but then we thought the batter will give 10-15 runs, but he could give 2-3 wickets. Some of the guys were struggling with flu. Weren’t even sure till the morning who’s playing or not. To get the win, really happy with that.

Thought we bowled really well. Rahul Chahar and Harshal bowled really well, was pretty happy at the halfway point but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. The wicket was probably slower than we thought, we expected a little more pace and bounce, it was pretty similar throughout the game. Couple of days off and we go against RCB in a few days time so we need to move on and stay headstrong.
