SRH vs PBKS: Abhishek Sharma while hitting a hook shoot

SRH vs PBKS: Sunrisers Hyderabad surpassed Rajasthan Royals in the points table to be at the second spot after defeating Punjab Kings in the 69th match of the IPL 2024. SRH chased the target of 215 runs with five balls to spare to register their eighth victory in the league stage.

PBKS’s stand-in skipper, Jitesh Sharma, decided to bat first, and their openers gave the start to the team, with Atharva Taide and Prabhsimran Singh keeping the scoreboard running from the first over of the match. PBKS posted 97 runs in 9 overs. Atharva Taide got dismissed in the 10th over, but Prabhsimran Singh and Rilee Rossouw kept depositing the ball out of the boundary ropes. Prabhsimran Singh hit his fifty but couldn’t turn that into a century and got out on the score of 71 runs. Soon, Rilee Rossouw departed, but the stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma ensured his team a high total with his quick innings of 32 runs as Punjab Kings posted 214 runs on the board.

Chasing the target of 215 runs, SRH didn’t start well, with Travis’s head getting out on a duck, but Rahul Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma didn’t let that smile remain for long on PBKS’ bowlers and launched a counter-attack, with both batters scoring in boundaries and sixes. Rahul Tripathi was dismissed after scoring 33 runs, but Abhishek Sharma kept going and scored his fifty. Before getting out, he did his part of the job; later, Klaasen and Nitish Reddy capitalized on that and scored good runs to make the victory easy for their team. SRH reached the target of 215 runs with five balls to spare.

IPL 2024 69th Match SRH vs PBKS: Captains’ Corner

We’ve had a lot of fun and played some really great cricket. It’s satisfying and exciting [to be in the latter stages]. A few of these guys haven’t played in finals before – I havent’t played in finals before. We still don’t know who we are playing but we are excited.

“I will defintiely be supporting KKR tonight. We will definitely be awake and supporting KKR. I haven’t hit it nicely over a period of time so I went back into the nets and tried to figure it out. I’m finally hitting one or two today which has put a smile on my face. I was moving way to much. And then I found something and challenged myself the other day in the nets against the spinners and something clicked again. Finally it came back.” Perfect timing for the post season…
