RCB vs GT: RCB got their first defeat of the IPL 2025 as Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans won the match by 8 wickets.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to bowl first. The pitch offered assistance to pacers in the powerplay, and utilizing that, Arshad Khan picked up the wicket of Virat Kohli in the 2nd over of the match. Devdutt Padikkal was next to get dismissed. Phil Salt, who got the favor of luck in the first few overs, got bowled by Mohammed Siraj in the 5th over. Ishant Sharma came into the picture and dismissed in-form Rajat Patidar. It was Liam Livingstone’s fifty that took the score of RCB to 150 runs with some fireworks from Tim David; RCB posted 169 runs on the board at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing 170, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan started cautiously, but in the 5th over, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar picked up the wicket of Shubman Gill. Now Jos Buttler came to the occasion and partnered with Sai Sudarshan to prove that he can tackle such situations. Unfortunately, Sai Sudarshan missed his fifty by 1 run. Jos Buttler didn’t stop and scored 73 runs for his side to win the match by 8 wickets.

IPL 2025, Match 14th, RCB vs GT: Captains’ Corner
We have seen on this ground, restricting the other team to 170, we always thought we were in the game. It is surprising, the wicket sometimes plays really good and sometimes there is something in it for the seamers with the new ball. There was something in it for the fast bowlers in the first 7-8 overs (tonight) and it was stopping. We thought if we did not give them early wickets, we would be right in the game. (On the dropped catches and how that makes him feel) You are definitely disappointed but we talk about coming back at them (the opposition), and grabbing the next opportunity. The kind of wicket it was, we batted professionally and it was a clinical chase. All about adapting to the situation – we might have a completely different wicket (in the next game) and we might have to adapt to it.

On what score he feels RCB should have gotten) Not 200, but we were targeting around 190. Early wickets harmed this match (for us). (What would he have done differently) Intent was good. Three wickets in the powerplay made a difference. (On if the pitch improved) Slightly better but the way our bowlers bowled was amazing. They put in hard work and it was not easy. On this ground, going to the 18th over, it was amazing to watch from the bowlers. After three wickets, the way Jitesh, Liam and Tim (batted), after three wickets fell…that was amazing to see and the positive from this match. We are very confident about our batting unit – the way they are showing intent, that is a positive sign (for us).
