Despite the loss, the highlight of the game was Delhi Capitals’ batter Karun Nair’s blistering knock of 89 runs, which almost made the chase easy for his team, but the batters afterward couldn’t capitalize on the innings and lost the match by 12 runs. Apart from the home team loss, one incident that caught the attention of the fans was the altercation between DC’s batter Karun Nair and the MI’s bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
Karun Nair And Jasprit Bumrah’s Heated Altercation
During the chase, Karun Nair decoded the Jasprit Bumrah’s mystery and hit him for 24 runs in the eight deliveries he faced. It was Nair’s batting class that made one of the best in the world to make adjustments in his attack. Karun Nair was running for a double in the final delivery after hitting Jasprit Bumrah for 18 runs in the first five balls of the final over of the powerplay. During that moment, he bumped into Jasprit Bumrah at the non-striker’s end.
Though the batter immediately apologized, it looked like the bowler didn’t want to accept that, which was evident as he was frustrated with the runs he was leaking in his overs. The incident put the oil on the fire. Hardik Pandya intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further. However, Rohit Sharma gave a funny reaction to the incident, which calmed the situation.
Despite Karun Nair’s heroics, Mumbai Indians clinched the thriller with their spectacular fielding efforts as DC lost their last three wickets via a hat-trick of run-outs and lost the match by 12 runs.
