Patna Pirates vs Puneri Paltan: Patna Pirates reach one step closer to book their seat for the playoff in the PKL season 11 after defeating the defending champion Puneri Platan in match 116 at Badminton Hall at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.
Puneri Paltan’s start was terrific as the defenders tackled the season’s top raider, Devank Dalal, in the first raid of the match. Patna retaliated by tackling Pankaj Mohite in the first raid of the home team. Both side’s defense was playing an aggressive game and wasn’t giving a chance to the Raiders. In the first 5 minutes, no Raiders could pick a point. Pirates’ Ayan brought the first raid point of the match and sent Gaurav Khatri out of the mat. Pankaj Mohite brought the first raid point for his team. Finally, Patna’s top raider Devank Dalal, with a back thrust, scored his first point of the night. Puneri Paltan was down to one man in the last 5 minutes of the first half, but Abhineesh Natarajan saved his team from all-out and brought them into the lead with the scoreline at the end of the first half standing at 15-13.
In the first minute of the second half, the home team suffered an all-out. Pune’s defense was doing its job and making multiple super tackles, but the raiding department was struggling to bring points. Meanwhile, Devank Dalal brought two more points to inflict another all-out on Puneri Paltan. Eventually, Pune lost the match, with Patna winning it by five points.
