Tyron Woodley Wants To Be Jake Paul’s Opponent In The Latter’s Debut MMA Fight

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley thinks that Jake Paul should fight him in his debut MMA fight, as he will be the perfect opponent for him in his debut MMA bout. You Tuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul is looking to enter the cage fighting, and the rumors about him making his debut in MMA got confirmed when he signed a deal with PFL in January 2023. Since then, there has been speculation about whom he will fight in his debut MMA bout. However, Tyron Woodley, who has been out of the cage for nearly two years now, wants the boxer to fight him in his debut fight.

I think if you’re going to fight anybody in MMA, you fight me in MMA. I’m the one that did the numbers with you. I’m the one that had the crazy millions and millions of views in the press conference. I’m the one that was a five-time champion. I’m the one that took the fight on two weeks’ notice.

Woodley told TMZ

Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul were met earlier in two boxing matches where the former faced defeat in both fights, first by a split decision and then by a knockout. Both fights happened back in 2021, and the second fight that Tyron Woodley accepted was on two weeks short notice. Jake Paul has been doing well in boxing, beating former UFC champions like Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz, whom he fought in August 2023, winning the boxing match by a unanimous decision. In fact, Jake Paul called out Nate Diaz for the MMA fight, but that is not likely to happen as of now. According to Tyron Woodley, fighting Diaz in his debut fight doesn’t make any sense, as the MMA fighter was never a champion.

If you really, really want to prove that you can do it in my world, you fight the No. 1 guy in that world. Nate (Diaz) has never touched gold, never been close to gold ever. I think (Derek) Brunson started barking and some other people.”
