GT vs RCB: The 45th match of the IPL 2024 brought a third win for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru as the Faf du Plessis and Co. beat Gujarat Titans by nine wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat. The match was in control of the Gujarat Titans before the last ten overs, but it required only two overs for the RCB’s overseas batter, Wil Jacks, to turn the game in his team’s favor and win it at the end of 16 overs.
RCB, winning the toss, decided to bowl first and invited the home team to bat. RCB’s bowlers did well in the powerplay and inflicted two early shocks on the batting team. Skipper Shubman Gill and wicket-keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha were dismissed early in the innings, but Sai Sudarshan and Shahrukh Khan provided stability to the team afterward, with both batters scoring their fifties. Sai Sudarshan remained not out and formed a quick partnership with David Miller to reach a total of 200 runs at the end of 20 overs.
RCB, while chasing the target, started well with skipper Faf and Virat Kohli playing some good shots, but the skipper’s innings ended with 24 runs. Will Jacks and Virat Kohli took the team to the shore, where the former struggled in the beginning to score runs. However, when he got hold of the wicket, he didn’t stop until the match was finished. The right-handed batter scored his century in just 41 balls, and the partnership between Will Jacks and Virat Kohli ended the game with 9 wickets in hand. They reached the target of 201 runs in 16 overs.

IPL 2024 45th Match GT vs RCB: Captains’ Corner
“I thought it was a really good wicket. When we bowled first, we felt like it certainly was a score that we could chase, obviously not 16 overs. It feels like we’ve made some real progress in both departments. We were way off in the beginning of the tournament, but it feels like there’s confidence in the group and you can see that in both bowling and batting. “The guys are doing a really good job. At the moment and the way T20 game is … when you look at the score and you think, “bowlers, what are you doing?” But it’s not actually the case. The game has changed so much.
Faf du Plessis said post-match
“I think it was great hitting by them (Kohli and Jacks.) We need to come up with better plans in the next match, also need to execute them. When you are batting you can always think of scoring 15-20 runs more. We thought 200 was a good enough total for us, unfortunately, it didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to. We were not able to pick up wickets in the middle overs, I think that was the turning point for us,”
Shubman Gill said post-match
