GT vs CSK: Gujarat Titans gave the setback to CSK fans in the 59th match of the IPL 2024 by defeating the Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co. by 35 runs. Gujarat Titans with this victory registered their fifth win and are now standing at number eight in the points table. They are still alive in the race to playoffs and next games are crucial for them whereas CSK has the lead of two points but the team need to win the rest of the two matches to certain their playoffs’ seat.

CSK’s skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad invited GT to bat first and the openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan put up a show for the fans both batters came to the crease with an attacking mindset and didn’t give CSK’ bowlers much chances they inflicted maximum damage they could when they were on the crease both batters scored centuries and did a partnership of 210 runs for the first wicket. Once GT was expected to cross the mark of 250 but CSK bowlers made the comeback to restrict the GT to 231/ 3 at the end of 20 overs.

Chasing 232 runs, CSK’s start was pathetic, as it lost three wickets inside powerplay on the score of 10. GT’s bowlers shattered CSK’s hopes, but Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali made the comeback and built a partnership of 109 runs. Both batters scored their fifties, but Mohit Sharma dismissed both batters to solidify GT’s grip in the match. The remaining batters failed to take the team to the total, as GT won the game by 36 runs.

Yeah just a cramp, nothing else (reason for being off the field). When you’ve got 100k people supporting you, becomes easier. Just the freeness of it. When we were batting out there, we didn’t have any targets in mind. Were just maximising the opportunities in front of us. We have a good camaraderie between us. Even last year we batted a lot together. Lot of fun batting with him. In terms of numbers, definitely it is (best opening partnership for GT). Mohit bhai has done this for us the last couple of years. Even last year, his bowling was a revelation. Even this year, two three bad games can happen to anyone. At one point we thought 250 was there for the taking. In the last 2-3 overs they bowled well also. Just had a feeling we were 10-15 short – not in terms of the match but in terms of the NRR going forward.”

Our fielding let us down, we gave away 10-15 runs extra I think, execution wise we were good, but they played some really good shots. You can’t control batters when they playing so well and going good. It’s real quick, we got to fly quick and we have a tough game in Chennai, so we got to turn up well there as well.
