After being the only impact bowler in the last match, Jasprit Bumrah is in doubt to play the 2nd test match due to workload management, but no official statement has come yet from the BCCI or from any Indian team player.
After suffering from the defeat against the England side in the 1st test match, the Indian team took a rest and then traveled to Edgbaston, Birmingham, for the 2nd test. They will start practicing on Friday.
Why can Bumrah miss the 2nd Test Match?
The bowling unit of the Indian team was disappointing, and even Bumrah failed to take a wicket in the 2nd innings, but in the first innings, only he looked sharp. Still, on the fifth day, in the last session, Bumrah went off the field, and it was seen that Arshdeep was giving him a shoulder massage.
In the post-match interview, when the reporter asked Gambhir if Bumrah would have to play every match, Gambhir replied that no, he will only play three test matches, but it is up to the fitness coach and him if he feels better.
However, the number of days off given to the Indian team between the 1st Test and the 2nd Test will give Bumrah rest time, so it is quite safe to say that he will play in the next match, but might miss the third and fifth matches because they have very little time.
Who Will Replace Bumrah if he does not play?
There is no way anyone can replace Bumrah because he is the best bowler in the world right now, but Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh can be one of the bowlers who can replace him. However, Bumrah is most likely to miss the third test match at Lord’s, London, and Arshdeep Singh will be the perfect replacement for that, because the pitch is great for swing bowlers.
