PBKS vs GT: Punjab Kings lost their fourth consecutive match and sixth overall in the IPL 2024, losing the latest against Gujarat Titans. In the 37th match of the IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans took revenge for their last encounter loss against the Punjab Kings by defeating the home team by three wickets. Shubman Gill and Co. executed their plan well with three spinners. They cleaned the PBKS’ batting line-up and restricted them to 142 runs. Later, despite losing some early wickets during the chase, GT’s batters took their team to its fourth league victory.
After winning the toss, PBKS stand-in skipper Sam Curran decided to bat first and came with Prabhsimran Singh to bat. Both batters provided the start required, with Prabhsimran Singh leading the attack. In 5 overs, PBKS were 45/0, and from the sixth over, the downfall of PBKS’ batting line-up started as inside 10 overs, PBKS lost three wickets with 74 runs on the board. This time, even the Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma duo looked ineffective in front of GT’s bowling attack, with some power shots in the end by Harpreet Brar. PBKS posted a total of 142 runs on the board.
Chasing the total, GT’s batters didn’t do much hurry and slowly started closing the run gap. However, Wriddhiman Saha got out in the 4th over. Gujarat Titans had enough batters in the line-up to chase the target. Shubman Gill kept rotating the strikes with Sai Sudarshan and narrowed the gap, though PBKS’ bowlers made a comeback by dismissing Gill and then a few others in the line-up, but the runs were low to defend. Some clean hitting from Rahul Tewatia at number five took GT to victory with five balls to left.

IPL 2024 37th Match PBKS vs GT: Captains’ Corner
Would have liked to finish it earlier, good to get those two points. (Captaincy) It’s been very exciting for me to be able to take up this role. Except the over-rate, everything good. When I am out there batting, I want to play as a batter. He (Livingstone) was trying to rush me there but the ball that I got out, I would have made that decision even without that bit.
Shubman Gill said post-match
I think so (we were 10-15 short). The effort with the ball was incredible, the commitment and fight was amazing, but it was not enough. The Afghanistan spinners are world class bowlers and Sai Kishore bowled really well, credit to them. That is the third time we have used that pitch, anything above 160 would have been a par total but we still fought well. Prabhsimran played really well in the powerplay but unfortunately we lost a cluster of wickets after that. Now we know what to do, we have to win every game.
