RR vs DC: Rajasthan Royals, in the 9th match of the IPL 2024, gave Delhi Capitals their second consecutive loss to gain two more valuable points in the league. This was Rajasthan Royals’ second win in their home leg. Rajasthan Royals posted 185 runs on the board, and Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals to fall short by 12 runs. Riyan Parag was the highlight of the match, as the fans and teammates equally praised the player’s batting skills. He remained unbeaten on the score of 84 runs off 45 balls, whereas Avesh Khan contributed with his bowling skills to defend the total.
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals decided to bowl first at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals started their innings with the usual opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, but the start of the home team wasn’t ideal as they lost two wickets on just 30 runs. Sanju Samson, who scored a fifty in the last match, got dismissed on just 15 runs, but right-handed batter Riyan Parag and an exciting decision of sending Ravichandran Ashwin up in the order did the damage to DC. Ashwin scored a valuable 29 runs to ease the pressure, and Riyan Parag, on the other end, kept going in the ultimate over of the innings. The right-handed batter smoked Anrich Nortje for 25 runs to take his team to a big total of 185/5 in 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 186, DC started with a pair of Australian players, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. Both were batting cautiously, but Nadre Bruger broke Marsh’s defense to pick up the first wicket for RR. Ricky Bhui didn’t trouble the scoreboard and was dismissed in the same over by Burger skipper Rishabh Pant, who was playing his 100th IPL match continued the innings with David Warner when the latter was about to get his fifty but a fantastic catch on the short third man by Sandeep Sharma sent him to the dugout later DC’s skipper was trapped by Yuzvendra Chahal, Tristan Stubbs fought hard and scored 44 runs, but that wasn’t enough to win the match and DC lost the game by 12 runs.

“The way we started, the first ten overs, we were like Rovman, be ready you might have to bat! The IPL is changing and we all have to be flexible. Earlier it was about 11 players, now it is about all 15 players. Me and Sanga had a lot of chat between 15th and 17th over before deciding the Impact Player. It’s all about gauging in which zone they are. You have to look at that and take your decision.
